Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy (OT) focuses on enabling individuals to participate in the activities that matter most to them — from daily self-care routines to managing a household, returning to work, or engaging with their community.

Our licensed occupational therapists conduct thorough assessments and develop individualized treatment plans that address each patient's unique functional goals, medical history, and living environment.

Areas We Treat

We provide clinical occupational therapy services for adults and seniors experiencing difficulties related to:

  • Orthopedic injuries & post-surgical recovery — joint replacements, fractures, upper extremity rehabilitation
  • Cognitive decline & dementia — memory support, safety planning, caregiver training

  • Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) — bathing, dressing, grooming, meal preparation, and more

Our Approach

Patient-Centered. Clinically Rigorous. Outcome-Focused.

Every treatment plan begins with a comprehensive functional assessment. We evaluate your physical capacity, cognitive function, home environment, and personal goals to develop a targeted, measurable intervention plan.

Our therapists work collaboratively with physicians, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, and caregivers to ensure a coordinated continuum of care.

Progress is monitored regularly, and treatment plans are adjusted to reflect clinical outcomes and evolving patient needs.

Frequently Asked Question (FAQ)

Occupational therapy focuses on restoring a patient's ability to perform meaningful daily activities — such as dressing, cooking, managing medications, and navigating their home safely. Physical therapy primarily addresses movement, strength, and pain. The two disciplines are complementary and are often prescribed together as part of a comprehensive rehabilitation plan.

Adults and seniors experiencing functional limitations due to stroke, neurological conditions, orthopedic injuries, cognitive decline, chronic illness, or age-related changes in physical and cognitive ability are strong candidates for OT. If daily tasks have become difficult, unsafe, or impossible to complete independently, an evaluation is recommended.

In many cases, a referral is not required to schedule an initial evaluation. However, some insurance plans — including certain Medicare plans — may require a physician's order. We recommend contacting our office prior to your first appointment so we can verify your coverage and ensure a smooth intake process.

Treatment duration varies based on diagnosis, functional goals, and individual progress. Some patients achieve their goals within a few weeks; others with complex or chronic conditions may benefit from longer-term intervention. Your therapist will establish a projected timeline during your initial evaluation and reassess it regularly.

Your initial visit consists of a comprehensive functional assessment. Your therapist will review your medical history, evaluate your physical and cognitive abilities, discuss your daily routines and priorities, and assess your home environment if relevant. Based on this evaluation, a personalized treatment plan will be developed in collaboration with you and your care team.

Occupational therapy is covered by Medicare Part B, Medicaid, and most private insurance plans when deemed medically necessary. Coverage details, including copays and visit limits, vary by plan. Our administrative team will assist you in verifying your benefits prior to beginning treatment.

Yes. For patients who are homebound or who would benefit from therapy conducted within their own living environment, our therapists provide in-home occupational therapy services. Home visits allow for a more accurate functional assessment and enable therapists to recommend specific environmental modifications and adaptive equipment.
